WorldFood Azerbaijan, the 16th Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibition, will take place in the Heydar Aliyev Sport and Exhibition Complex in the capital of Azerbaijan on 19-21 May. The exhibition is organised by Iteca Caspian LLC and ITE Group Plc (UK). Since 2008, Interfood Azerbaijan has been known as WorldFood Azerbaijan, one of the series of ‘WorldFood’ branded exhibitions organised by ITE, which include Worldfood Moscow, Worldfood Ukraine, Worldfood Kazakhstan and others. The exhibition has received ‘UFI Approved Event’ status from The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).

Last year, the exhibition successfully celebrated its 15th anniversary. Ninety companies from 19 countries - including Turkey, France, Germany, Italy, Israel, Lithuania, Ukraine, Holland, Serbia, Lebanon and Thailand – presented their products at WorldFood Azerbaijan. Belarus, Pakistan and Russia were represented by national group stands. Regional companies from Lenkoran, Gebele, Oghuz, Imishli, Zagatal, Geychay and other areas of Azerbaijan also participated in the exhibition. Over 6000 food industry professionals visited the exhibition. An info tour by entrepreneurs from Azerbaijan’s regions – Lerik, Lenkeran, Yardymly, Dzhalilabad, Belyasuvar, Sabirabad, Shirvan, and elsewhere – was particularly positive. Azerbaijan’s regions present numerous business opportunities for manufacturers of food equipment, refrigeration units, processing equipment and agricultural machinery. The visit to World Food Azerbaijan was organised with the aim of establishing a bridge between manufacturers and consumers, which will ultimately lead to new contracts and the introduction of the latest manufacturing equipment in the regions.

This year, 120 companies are expected to take part in WorldFood Azerbaijan. The exhibition will present the following sectors: meat and fowl, canned goods, dairy products, ice cream, fruit and vegetables, children’s and dietetic food, tobacco products and others. In addition, this year’s exhibition will be divided into several thematic exhibitions. WorldFood Drink will provide a rich assortment of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages; SeaFood will present seafood products and everything associated with their transportation and storage; WorldFoodTech will exhibit equipment for the food industry, supermarkets, laboratories and mini-factories; FoodPack will introduce visitors to a vast selection of packing equipment from Turkey, Russia and other countries.

This year, for the first time in the Caucasus region, WorldFood Azerbaijan will feature the HalalFood exhibition, which will bring together manufacturers of halal products from Azerbaijan and other countries. This sector of the food industry is becoming increasingly important. In 2008, the global halal market was worth $580 billion.

WorldFood Azerbaijan will present stands with traditional and original products, and become an important event in the region. Amidst the global economic crisis and continuing growth of food prices, the Government of Azerbaijan has outlined comprehensive measures to further increase food production and develop the agricultural industry. In this context, WorldFood Azerbaijan is an effective business platform for strengthening already existing relations, looking for new partners and implementing the latest technologies in Azerbaijan’s food industry.
